The Best 'Sloppy Joe' I've ever tasted.....

Image
Why was it so good because it was truly delicious. What added to the flavor was that it was made with loads of love by my darling husband just for me  :  ) This is a great quick meal, it is also great for a packed lunch or a picnic styled meal. Here I am about to eat a sloppy joe sandwich along with my freshly squeezed lemonade and some bbq pringles. My husband made it in about 10 minutes by simple cooking ground (turkey) minced meat and adding this store bought manwich sauce. Then he slightly toasted bread buns and slapped the sloppy joe onto the bread and twalla... There you go. In just 10 minutes your quick and easy homemade sloppy joe. all you used was manwich sauce, ground beef and bread buns. God Bless

Making lemonade out of a lemon

Image
I first heard this saying from a very wise man. If you think about it, it's completely genius. For you to take something simple from your kitchen that looks like nothing and make it into something creative and amazing. It takes creativity, strive and talent. 'Making lemonade out of a lemon' is a saying that goes far deeper than what it means literally. It stands for taking any situation around you and making something bigger and better out of it.  What a positive out look on life!!! But today I chose to use this saying literally and made fresh squeezed lemonade. I was spending so much money on buying juices from the store and was given the idea by my mom. If you think about it you spend a lot on juices (especially if you have a family like mine who likes to drink :  ) also store bought juices are not 100% but instead have added sugars and are from concentrate. So cut back on your shopping costs and make lemonade. There is nothing better to drink than  a cold fresh

Spoiling Bananas?

Image
I traveled this entire week and came home to spoiling bananas so i decided to make banana cake. Do you have spoiling bananas in your house ? there are loads of things that you  can do with them. don't just throw them away. you can make banana muffins, banana bread, banana pudding, banana cake, banana fritters, banana milk shakes and more The banana cake was so fluffy and delicious with a slightg bananany taste if that is even a word. Use only 6 ingrediants:   1 cup butter, 2 cups sugar,4 eggs, 2 3/4 cup flour,3 tsp baking powder, 1 cup milk. 2 bananas Preheat oven to 350 farenheit and 180 celsius and grease your cake pan well. then in a large mixing bowl mix butter and sugar. then add eggs and mix. then add flour and mix. then add baking powder and mix then add your milk and mix and lastly smash your bananas with a fork and put it into the bowl and mix. the trick with this cake recipe of mine is to mix alot. After each thing that you add in,you mix.this is

Chocolate Surprise

Image
This is one of the most different and most delicious cakes I have ever done. You gotta make it, its that good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chocolate cake 3 eggs (Separate the egg yolks from the egg whites) 1 1/2 cups sugar 1 1/4 cup flour 1/2 cup of Hershey cocoa unsweetened 1 cup milk 1 tbsp butter 1 tbsp baking powder Use your hand mixer to beat together in a bowl, the egg yolks, sugar and the butter until its creamy. Add milk and beat again. Then little by little add the flour and mix slowly so it won't splatter. Add the Hershey cocoa powder and the baking powder then mix again, mix well. Wash and dry the hand mixer and in a separate bowl mix the egg whites until it becomes hard and forms a peak. Add to the cake mixture and fold it in with your spatula, don't beat it with the hand mixer. Lightly mix it together or fold it in with your spatula to keep the cake fluffy. Bake in the oven on 350*F for 35 - 40 minutes. Don't bang around the oven otherwise the cake will sin

Shopping 'How it all gets started'

Image
It all starts with your shopping list. the beginning of great dishes done from your kitchen start with what you buy. what do you buy?  It is smart for you to form a habit of buying the right things from the grocery store rather than just getting whatever you see in front of you. what i normally do is write up a menu  of what I want to eat for that week what meals i want like for example 'lasanga with rice and corn or breaded tilapia with broccoli and mashed sweet potatoe' i will right out my menu for each day. then based on what i wrote on my menu. I will buy the ingrediants that are needed for those things. if you want you can do this just for your lunch or for all of your meals. This helps in various ways because you can plan ahead and set up healthy meals, also you can set up different types of meals (to help you get out of the routine of always eating the same old thing), it also helps you save moneybecause you go to the grocery store already knowing what you

Fun Juice

Image
Here is an idea for a fun juice. A blog viewer just the other day was having a birthday party for her daughter and asked me for an idea on how to make fruit punch because she had bought a big fruit punch bowl and wanted to use it. So since it was a  kids birthday party I suggested she used a light colored kool Aid  juice and cut up pieces of fun  different colored fruit like strawberries, blueberries, pineapples, apples etc. and just throw it into the bowl along with the juice and it will float around the bowl.  'The kids loved it'. You can use any type of juice or cider to do this. It gives a different touch and is very creative. God Bless let your creative juices flow.

A Different touch

A great option,  is to fry plantains or even plain bananas in a little oil. Delicious as a side dish to serve with any meal. Also here is a picture of my fridge door decor. Just wanted to share it with you. I am able to write my daily menu's on there. A nice touch to add to your kitchen to be more creative and make the whole cooking experience fun.

A healthy start to your day

Image
Oatmeal... It is so tasty, and  an extremely healthy food. It helps to lower cholesterol, it gives you energy, has a lot of fiber and protein and is in general great for a healthy lifestyle. It is a great start to your day. Try eating it once in a while for breakfast. Oatmeal is cheap, quick and easy to make. It takes less than 5 minutes to cook. Here in the picture above I am cooking my oatmeal and have added a handful of fresh blueberries for even more antioxidants, vitamin C and flavor. To your oatmeal you can eat it just as it is or you can make it different every time.  I sometimes add shredded coconut, fresh blueberries, fresh strawberries, cinnamon stick, fresh apple chunks of fresh shredded apples. Use your creativity and add what you would like just make sure that what you add is healthy. What do you eat for breakfast? Try to changing it up a bit, one day eat oatmeal, one day eat cereal, the other an egg and cheese sandwich, the other grits and eggs,  another day toas

Have you ever made popcorn chicken?

Image
So delicious yet easy to make. This is a great junk food that is cheap and easy to make at home. The other day I made this and served it with fries. I even made a dipping sauce for the chicken. Tastes better than nuggets or even chicken strips. All you need is: (5 things you already have in your kitchen) 3 Chicken breast cut into cubes (as many as you want really) 2 cups flour 3 tbsp oregano seasonings of your choice (salt, pepper, all purpose seasoning, garlic salt, onion powder etc.) 4 eggs First clean your chicken and cut it into cubes, In a separate big bowl put your flour and add the oregano and seasonings to the flour and nothing to the chicken. (you season the flour instead of the chicken) In another separate bowl beat your eggs At the same time heat a small pot with oil. Once the oil is hot Dip your plain (unseasoned chicken) into the eggs then into the flour then into the pot to fry  for about 2 minutes until light brown. remove it from the pot and put

WATCH THE VIDEOS ON ME MAKING THIS CAKE BELOW! When it comes out the oven, let it cool off and turn over onto a deep tray. If you baked one large cake then you need to slice the cake in half to add the filling. If you baked two smaller cakes then turn over one cake onto a deep tray. In the blender or with your hand mixer, blend togethe

A Different kind of Pineapple

Image
Who would have ever thought of this? Last week my husband was eating lots of fruit and wanted to eat some pineapples. It was cold that day and the pineapples I had were in the fridge; so I decided to warm them up in a frying pan and put a little butter, sugar and cinnamon and twalla... It was totally and completely delicious, something like I have never tasted before. Why have I not thought of this sooner? Why is it not being used as a common recipe around the world? I don't know, maybe it still needs to be discovered  :  )  A must try, ladies and gentlemen You need: 1/2 fresh Pineapple 1/2 teaspoon butter 1 tablespoons sugar 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon Simply - dice your fresh pineapple into big chunks and throw it into your frying pan and put the heat on medium (You don't want to toast your pineapples, you want them to be soft and warm) then add in your butter, sugar and cinnamon. Feel free to add more or less of each if you want. Fry it in the pan on medium heat
