Can be eaten for breakfast with a light layer of butter spread on top, also great along with your Southern lunch or dinner, going great alongside BBQ ribs, fried chicken, collard greens, turkey, yams, mac and cheese and so many other southern dishes. One of the main homey foods from the South. Corn Bread is one of those things that really hit the spot; in the food world. Nothing better than making it from scratch. Here is how. 1 egg 1/2 cup sour cream 2/3 cup milk 2 oz melted butter 1 cup cornmeal (preferred yellow) 1/2 cup flour 1 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 1 1/2 oz of sugar You will use muffin trays, if your muffin trays are 'Tefal' or nonstick which most muffin trays are, then you do not need to butter it. Not used to cooking? Try something new

The idea for my blog www.inthekitchenwithelise.blogspot.com came about in October of 2011. I graduated from a technical high school in which I did a Culinary Arts program and graduated at the top of my class. I loved it. Cooking became an art to me, a way to de-stress and have fun.    2 years later I got married and now I would need to put into practice all of my cooking skills learned.   My husband was extremely happy with my cooking. There is a saying that goes ‘A way to a man’s heart is through his stomach’ That is exactly what happened here. He absolutely loved my cooking, And I absolutely loved cooking for him.    In the line of work that I do, I often come across many different people and many times sit down to speak to them. It became astonishing to me the number of people, ‘women in specific’ that did not know even a thing or two about cooking… literally. They conformed to simply just eating out on a daily basis. Eating all sorts of junk and fast foods. I kept

Shrimp Intestine

Image
Did you know that shrimp has an intestine that needs to be removed before cooking? Many people don't know this and end up eating the shrimp with the intestine... yuck... 90% of the restaurants that I've gone to, do not remove the intestine. For that reason I stopped ordering shrimp at restaurants. Be aware, of this, whenever you make shrimp for yourself or others take the extra step and remove this intestine strip. By deveining the shrimp it  also adds a unique butterfly look, when cooked its even a bit more plump. Tip for your next shrimp meal. Deveining in 2 simple steps: -Simple cut along the outside of the shrimp, ( sometimes it might be found towards the belly of the shrimp. It is easily noticeable. You will see the strip straight away) - Use a sharp object such as a knife or toothpick and remove it when cooked you get a nicer looking shrimp Print Recipe From my kitchen to yours God Bless

Sorry about that, as I know there are many of you who love coming here daily and receiving new recipes, tips and ideas for cooking. Keep posted as you will continue to regularly get posts from me as I am back into action. For those of you who are new to my blog here is some info for you: I am a Christian and a firm believer in God. Married for nearly 11 years When I do something it is because I know for sure it is not a waste of my time but instead a way to serve God more. I Really enjoy and have a passion for cooking and creating different dishes. To me cooking is a work of art. Something that is needed on a daily basis anyway. After all every one eats, right... I like to cook and have the whole eating experience done with style, and cannot understand how it is that so many people do not have the understanding
