Spaghetti Squash

Do you enjoy pasta but always end up feeling bloated and get that guilty conscious for eating all that extra starch? Try spaghetti squash. It looks and feels like actual spaghetti  and takes away that bloated feeling and that guilty conscious. Its a vegetable. Imagine using it in all your favorite pasta dishes such as spaghetti and meatballs, spaghetti carbonara, chicken alfredo etc.

The taste and texture is that of your regular pasta. Though it is not so commonly found in your grocery store, Spaghetti squash is found in your local farmers market, international grocery stores and in grocery stores with a bigger produce section. It's worth hunting down and finding. The squash family has many shapes of squash that look the same. When searching, make sure to look at the label to ensure it is spaghetti squash. Its outer appearance is that of  an orange honey dew melon. Hard outer layer with a yellow and rippled appearance.

Follow the video that I made above to get your spaghetti.

Note: Using the microwave best helps to get that spaghetti look and feel. Attempting to boil it slightly makes the spaghetti a bit more on the mushy end. Best when microwaved.

Microwave for about 5 minutes. When you loosen with a fork, if it is still hard, microwave for a few more minutes at a time, until your spaghetti is soft to the touch. Be careful not to over cook or it will end up mushy.
