Creamy Mashed Potatoes
Theres nothing as delicious and smooth as homemade mashed potatoes. Don't buy the store bought fake mashed potato flakes that claims to be fast and authentic. Make your own.
Mashed potatoes can be made in a few different styles. Creamy, Chunky and Skinned. I like all them
In the picture above I made 'Creamy Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes' here is how...
To make it all you need is:
cream cheese (optional)
Boil a pot full of water.Whilst the water is coming to a boil. Peel as many mashed potatoes as you want to eat and dice them into big chunks. (Tip: As soon as you finish dicing them, put your potatoes immediately into a bowl of water because with potatoes if they are exposed to the air they get black immediately. Putting them into water keeps them white.) Once you are done with all of them put them all at the same time into the pot of water and let it boil and cook for about 10 - 15 minutes. You will know they are done when you put a fork through it and it is really soft. Once they are fully cooked drain out the water and mash your potatoes one at a time (if you want them smooth you have to put in the work to mash them thoroughly) I use a wooden spoon and I mash them one at a time. Once they are all well mashed leaving them in the pot. Add just a tiny bit of milk, about a wooden spoon of butter, a pinch of salt and black pepper. Mix them all in together. Your done. Check the flavor to see if you like it.
Do you need more salt, pepper, do you want it even creamier add butter, softer add milk etc. do this until you are happy with it. Also optional: What I used to add to the flavor is I added about 2 tablespoons of cream cheese into mine and mixed it in with everything else. It came out really good.
Great tip: When making mashed potatoes use your handheld mixer to mix, adds a nice creamy smooth texture and makes it even more enjoyable.
Do you want it 'Chunky Style'? Do the same as I mentioned above except for when it's time to mash them don't mash it one by one carefully. Just mix in your ingredients. While you mix everything in. The potatoes will automatically mash up but not smoothly. There you go your chunky mashed potatoes.
Do You want it 'Skinned'? To have it skinned you can have it both smooth and or chunky. Either way you do it. All you need to do is not peel it. Do all the other steps but skip the peeling.
There you go. Enjoy your mashed potatoes no matter what style you choose : )
