Homemade Granola
Make your own Granola at home with simple ingredients that you most likely have laying around the house and add your own extras in it. To make your granola unique and just how you like it.
In today's day and age, with a lot f people being much more health conscious and with the many different chemicals and harmful ingredients and processed things in our food. It's much better when you can find a recipe that you use often, and just make it for yourself at home. This way, you know exactly what's inside and you can monitor the sugar amount and what you like more you can add and what you like less you can remove. Quick and easy, with none of that fake stuff!
I mean, what can't you do with granola... Granola goes with just about everything. This recipe is great to eat on its own just like that, you can eat it as a cereal. Just add milk. You can eat it on top of your favorite yogurts or acai bowl, add it to your favorite fruit parfaits, over your favorite ice cream, overnight oats or anything else... The list is endless. Enjoy!
With this recipe you can also add or take away the additions. For instance. In my picture I added Almonds and raisins. Another great thing to add to your granola is cranberries if you like them. But I have also done this recipe without anything at all. Just the oats recipe without any toppings and it came out equally as great. You can mix and match and make it your own.
Ingredients:
2 Cups Oatmeal
1/4 cup melted butter
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Optional:
1 cup of your favorite nuts ( Almonds, Pecan, Walnuts)
1/2 cup your favorite dried fruit ( Raisins, Cranberry, coconut flakes or even chocolate chips if you like)
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350F or 180C
In a Mixing bowl, mix in your oats, (nuts if you are using), cinnamon, butter, maple syrup, and vanilla. Then Mix well using a wooden spoon until it is all mixed in and the maple syrup and butter has coated everything in the bowl.
Pour your granola onto a baking sheet or pyrex ready for the oven. Make sure to spread it out as much as possible in order to give it all space enough to cook. Bake in the oven for 15 - 20 minutes or until you start to smell it and notice them starting to brown around the corners.
After 10 minutes open your oven and give it a gentle shake, just to move it around a bit in the pan and allow other pieces to cook. Remove from oven once done and allow to cool for 10 minutes and your done. Break the granola slightly with your hand to form the big chunks if you would like, and If you are adding any toppings, such as dried fruits or chocolate chips. You can add it now and toss it into the granola.
Store in an airtight container on the counter top or in the fridge. This can also be kept for a longer time frozen for up to 3 months if you would like and defrost any time you need. It freezes well.
Note: If you like your Granola to stick together and become clumpy pieces. Make sure to tightly pat it down with the spoon on the baking tray before placing in the oven.
Enjoy!
